Summer 2024
Science- identify the parts of a flower and understand their functions
In Science, pupils have been exploring life cycles of humans, animals and plants. In this lesson, pupils dissected a number of flowering plants and explored the parts within these flowers in order to allow the flower to reproduce. They considered how plants are able to reproduce themselves by using different parts of the parent plant to produce new plants. They then described the life process of reproduction in plants.
English- Exploring Greek Myths and Legends.
In our English lessons, pupils have been exploring a range of Greek myths including Theseus and the Minotaur. Pupils read Theseus and the Minotaur, thought about the structure of this myth and then considered what the key moments in the story were. Pupil’s considered how the characters felt and the motives for their actions during different moments of the story. Pupil’s created freeze frames for the key moments and then as a class, we completed a ‘thought tapping’ activity so that we could further explore the thoughts and feelings of each character.
Art- Drawing: I need space
In art, pupils explored artwork inspired by the space race. Gaining inspiration from ‘Teis Alber’s’ piece ‘Moonwalk’, pupils considered how drawing can be developed through printmaking and creating a collagraph printing plate.
