SPRING 2025
Spring One Rabbits
Throughout spring term one Rabbits have been very busy! In DT the children designed and made a truss bridge, they investigated different bridges and thought about which one would hold the most weight before moving on to creating spaghetti bridges and finally creating them out of wood. The children all worked very safely and sensibly with the saws and glue guns.
We have been thinking about different festivals in French, practicing our numbers, days of the week and months of the year. The children are all getting better with their numbers, days of the week and months of the year.
During PE lessons we have been taking part in gymnastics where we have been thinking about our balances and posture. We also created our own routines that included turns, balances and jumps, the children were very creative with their moves.
The children loved exploring light, we completed several investigations thinking about reflections and what materials would be best for a safety jacket as well as black out curtains. The children used the torches to test a range of materials thinking whether they were opaque, transparent or translucent.
Spring two Rabbits
During Spring term two Rabbit class explored the life of Henry VIII, and the life of the Tudors. We were lucky enough to have a wonderful trip to Hampton Court Palace where we were shown around and were told about all the jobs in the palace.
In art we looked at light and dark, we learnt how to lighten and darken a colour to make the image look 3D, we used these new skills to draw and paint our own 3D image.
The children continued their science topic by looking at sound, they were able to complete several investigations, thinking about pitch and how sound travels.
When taking part in PE, football was our area of focus. The children learnt basic skills and how to control the ball when using these skills. These skills then moved us into a few games of football, where the children were able to demonstrate their learnt skills.
In English we focused on Pandoras Box, the children re told the story orally and then re wrote the story before writing their own versions of Pandoras Box, these stories were fantastic, the children used the original ideas, and they led them into their own retellings of the famous Greek myth.
Rabbit class very much enjoyed careers day! They were able to explore a range of different future careers and ask the stall holders questions about their jobs.
The children finished off the term with their recorder concert for Year 3 Foxes, they perfomed very well and remembered each note accurately.
