Our Ten Gospel Values encouraged at Holy Cross
Peace: tranquillity, quiet, reflective, grateful (Added in January 2024 )
''Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27)
Compassion: kindness, patience, empathy, helpfulness
“Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.'' (Colossians 3:12)
Gentleness: softness, beauty, serenity, peacefulness
“Take my yoke upon you and leaner from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.'' (Matthew 11:29)
Justice: fairness, equality, share for all
“The Lord is gracious and merciful: patient and plenteous in mercy. The Lord is sweet to all: and his tender mercies are over all His works. The Lord is just in all His ways: and holy in all His works'' (Psalm 145: 8-9,17)
Integrity: honesty, truth, honour, faithfulness
“Well done good and faithful servant; you have shown you can be faithful in small things, I will trust you with greater; come and join in your master's happiness.'' (Matthew 25: 14-30)
Simplicity: Calm, uncomplicated, trust
“And all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in Her heart.'' (Luke 2: 18-19)
Humility: trust and faith in our Lord God our Father
“Lord make me know Your ways. Lord teach me Your paths. Make me walk in Your truth and teach me: for You are God my Saviour'' (Psalm 24:4)
Love: joy, commitment, dedication, sacrifice
“Love is patient and kind, love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.'' (Matthew 23: 10-12)
Forgiveness: reconciliation, sorry, empathy, respect
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.'' (Colossians 3:13)
Hope: optimism, newness, resilience, perseverance
“May he enlighten the eyes of your mind, so that you can see what hope His call holds for you.''
